With its staggeringly beautiful scenery and ice-rink-flat, smooth road surface, The Coll d'Orient is one of the most popular rides in Mallorca. At just under 5.2km, and with an average gradient of just 5.1%, it's accessible for cyclists of all levels.

The ride begins on the Ma-2100, after leaving Alaro, at 240m above sea level and rises to an overall total of 498m. The Coll d'Orient is reached just before the village of Orient, which is secluded by and nestled amongst the rolling mountains, that are greener and far less rocky than most of the Tramuntana range. If the ride and views weren’t incentive enough, the village has a couple of cafes which cater for a busy, international cycling crowd. In our opinion, the one on the right is the one to go for as its wide range of pastries and cakes complement its excellent coffee. If you’re really hungry, the Restaurant Orient’s menu is packed with local and traditional cuisine specialties, including roast suckling pig.
